Because of our unique model of teaching in both English and Spanish, we are always looking for American teachers who have a heart for missions and the gift of teaching. In order to be a teacher at Las Palmas, you will need to:
Complete an application for teaching and submit it with your transcripts and copy of your diploma and any teaching certifications you may have. A BA or BS degree is required. If you degree is not in Education, we may be able to work with you as long as you are willing to take continuing education classes or workshops that we offer that specifically target the classroom experience.
Apply for ACSI certification.
Apply for a Business Work Visa.
Have a current Passport.
Raise funds to supplement the salary that we can offer.
We have both American teachers and Dominican teachers that need encouragement and support both in prayer and financially.
For our American teachers, you could:
Send financial support to help them with their visa process.
Send financial support to help with plane tickets home during the holidays or during the summer months.
Send financial support to help them acquire and update their ACSI certification.
Send care packages with goodies to let them know you care!
For our Dominican teachers, you could:
Send financial support to help with their ACSI certification; much more expensive than American certification (requires online courses of study).
Send financial support so that we can help with special needs that arise with their health or family needs.
Send care packages that include classroom materials that every teacher would love: bulletin board materials, stickers, sharpies, markers, pens.
We have over 400 students that currently attend our school. Many families struggle to have the financial means to send their students to our school. If you would be interested in adopting a student, you could:
Send financial support for tuition. The entire year is approximately $1000.00 (US dollars). You can send part or the whole! You can send at one time or monthly! We will be glad to share the name of the child, send a picture and updates on their educational success story if you want!
